Privacy

Jot is an app for learning to read the Hebrew Bible. It is made by Jason Robinson.

The short version

Jot collects nothing. It has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. Everything you do in Jot stays on your device.

What stays on your device

• Your progress: the lessons you've finished, the words you're learning, when each word is due for review, your streak, and your settings.
• Your recordings: when you record yourself reading aloud, the recording is used only so you can play it back and compare it with Jot's voice. It is kept in a temporary file that iOS clears, and it is never sent anywhere.
• Your reminders: if you turn on daily reminders, iOS schedules them on your device. No server is involved.

None of this is sent to Jason Robinson or anyone else.

Backups

If you use iCloud Backup, iOS may include Jot's data in your device backup. That backup is handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. If you choose Export backup in Jot's settings, Jot makes a file and you decide where it goes.

Microphone

Jot asks to use the microphone only for the read-aloud exercises. You can say no, or turn it off later in the Settings app. The rest of Jot works without it.

Children

Jot doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Information Apple provides

Apple gives developers anonymous download numbers and, from people who choose to share them, crash reports. These don't identify you. See Apple's privacy policy.

Changes

If this policy changes, for example if Jot adds accounts, the new version will be posted here with a new date before the change reaches the app.
